Johnnie Solomon Miller

MT CARMEL- Johnnie Solomon Miller, 78, of Mt. Carmel passed away on Sunday (January 24, 2010) at his residence.

Mr. Miller was born in Greene County and was retired from Management at Giant Foods.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Yates Miller, one daughter, Sandra Shortt, his parents, Earnest Miller and Mattie Isom Miller Wines, one brother, James (Buddy) Franklin Miller, and one sister, Frances Sands.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Marie & Larry Lamp, of West Virginia, Sharon & Mark Young, Church Hill: two step sons, Bobby Yates, Ewing, Virginia: Gary Yates, Yadkinville, N.C.; three sisters, Helen Pitt, Mrytle and J.D. Moore, Katheryn Wines, one half sister, Margaret Ferguson, two half brothers, Huble Wines Jr., Bobby and Jane Wines, six grandchildren, Jena Henderson, Makala Henderson, Derek Shortt, Tonya Everhart, Darina K. Shapley, and Kimberly D. Ellis, several great grandchildren, and eight step grandchildren. Special thanks to his special caregiver and friend, Lester Robinette.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. George Winegar officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at Liberty Hill cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Those desiring to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
