Davis E. "Baldy" Bombailey

CHURCH HILL- Davis E. “Baldy” Bombailey, 89, of Church Hill passed away on Thursday (January 28, 2010) at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was the oldest member of Old Union United Methodist Church. Mr. Bombailey was in the Civil Conservation Core, and a member of the Jericho Shriners. He was a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge, #386 and the Knoxville Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He served as the Alderman of Church Hill from 1971 to 1975, and was on the Hawkins County Planning Commission.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Martha E. Davis Bombelli, his first wife and mother of his children, Rachel Robinette Bombailey, daughter, Charlotte Grogg, and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Bombailey, son, David Phillip Bombelli of Del Ray Beach, Florida, daughters, Joyce R. Parker and her husband, Tommy, Judy Deloach and her husband, Eric both of Church Hill, step children, Ronnie, Larry, and Tommy Temple, Linda Minehair, Sandy Sturgill, Kathy McCoy, Tony and Tommy Horton, eight grandchildren, Mike Parker, Jennifer Testerman, Melissa Harris, Rebecca Hilton, Debi Feathers, Bret Deloach, Rachel Ford, and Sam Deloach, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, special niece, Drucilla Horton and special nephew, Garnie Bombailey.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Regina Shelton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Old Union United Methodist Church cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Bombailey’s grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Old Union United Methodist Church.

My Dad, Harry Clay Burton was in the CCC with your Dad. Dad always thought a lot and talked a lot about him and how he liked him. I know you will miss him like I do my Dad, they are frm the "Great Generation"! You, like me have so many good memories. Judy and I are sorry for your loss.
