Ethel R. Jeter

CHURCH HILL- Ethel Ruth Jeter, 70, passed away on Monday (February 1, 2010) at Indian Path Hospital following an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ms. Jeter was a cook for over 30 years at the Dairy Cup where she was well known and loved by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Elizabeth Fields, husband, Roy E. Jeter, Jr., brothers, Homer, Robert, and Grady Fields.

She was survived by his son Roy Jeter, III and his wife, Amber of Church Hill, daughters, Susan and Andrew Housewright of Church Hill, Sandra Mathews and her fiancé, Steven Woods of Kingsport, brothers, Willie Fields, Jr. of Alabama, Raymond, Roger, Kenneth, Earl, and Jack Fields, all of Rogersville, sisters, Elsie Stapleton of Church Hill, Mary Helton, and Betty Carmack, both of Rogersville, grandchildren, Dustin and Brittany Housewright, Daniel Mathews, Dwayne Mathews, Sara and Eric Tipton, Zachary Jeter, and Brayden Jeter, three great grandchildren, Elijah Housewright, Troy Tipton, Jayden Mathews, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church with Steve Bradley officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted following the service at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends.
